Who we are

Our website address is: https://snagably.hack-shak.com. Snagably is built and operated by an individual, not a company.

What this site does

Snagably lets you search for items across multiple online marketplaces (currently eBay and Etsy) and compares listings side by side. We do not sell anything ourselves — purchases happen directly on the marketplace’s own site.

What data we collect

You do not need an account to search Snagably. We do not use contact forms, comments, or visitor registration. If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address and a password. The password is stored only as a one-way scrambled value (a hash), so we cannot read it. We also keep a note of whether your account is on the free plan or on Premium.

When you search, we do save the search term itself along with the categories/tags associated with the results, in aggregate — this is what powers our search suggestions and trending features. This data is not linked to your identity, IP address, or any individual visitor; it’s stored simply as “this search term tends to relate to these tags,” pooled across all searches. Searches are not linked to accounts. If we ever add search history for accounts, we will update this policy first. We may also use this aggregated, non-personal search-and-tag data to improve or train other tools we build.

Site guide

The “Ask Snagably” guide answers questions about how this site works. The questions you type into it are saved as plain text, with a count and the date first asked, so we can add missing answers and improve the guide. The guide does not link them to your name, email, account or IP address, and please do not type personal information into it. The guide’s answers are written by us in advance. It does not use artificial intelligence to answer, and nothing you type into it is sent to another company. We may use these saved questions to improve the guide and other tools we build.

AI suggestions (Premium)

Premium is not available yet. When it is, Premium accounts may get suggested alternatives when a search finds nothing. Those suggestions are made by an AI model that runs on Snagably’s own server. Your search term is used for this and is not sent to any outside AI company.

Media

If we upload images to this site, we take care to avoid embedding location data (EXIF GPS). As with any WordPress site, visitors could technically extract location data from images if it were present.

Cookies

This site does not set cookies for visitors browsing or searching. If you log in to a Snagably account, we set one login cookie that keeps you logged in; logging out removes it. It is sent only over secure connections and cannot be read by scripts on the page. WordPress login cookies are used only by the site administrator.

Account emails

We use your email address only for your account and for password resets. When you ask to reset a password, we send one email from [email protected] with a link that works once and expires after 1 hour.

When you create an account, we record the date and the version of the Terms of Use you accepted, linked to your account email.

Login security

To block password guessing, we briefly count failed login attempts by email address and by the visitor’s network address. These counts are kept in memory only, expire after 15 minutes, and are cleared when the service restarts.

Affiliate links and third-party tracking

Some links on this site are affiliate links through the eBay Partner Network. If you click one and make a qualifying purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you — see our Affiliate Disclosure page. Clicking these links sends tracking information to eBay directly; this happens on eBay’s side once you leave our site, not through anything we set ourselves.

Who we share data with

We do not share visitor data or account data with anyone. Marketplace search results come from eBay’s and Etsy’s public APIs; no visitor information is sent to them except what naturally happens when you click through an affiliate link.

How long we retain data

Aggregated, non-identifying search-and-tag data is retained indefinitely to continue powering search suggestions and trending features. Since this data isn’t linked to any individual, there’s no personal data tied to a specific visitor to delete or expire. Your account email and scrambled password are kept until you ask us to delete your account.

Where your data is sent

No visitor data is transferred anywhere by us. Traffic to this site passes through Cloudflare, which provides our connection to the internet. Account data is stored on Snagably’s own server.

Changes to this policy

If Snagably later adds payments, search history for accounts, or other features involving personal data, this policy will be updated before those features go live.

Contact

Questions about this policy can be sent to [email protected]. To delete your account, email [email protected] from the address on the account and we will remove it.
